You can buy a travel eSIM with cryptocurrency at HelloSIM by choosing "Pay with crypto" at checkout, on the website or in the iPhone and Android app. You pick a coin and network on a secure payment page, send the exact amount shown from your own wallet or exchange, and the eSIM is delivered once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain.
HelloSIM sells prepaid data plans for 190+ countries, plus regional and global plans, and crypto has been a payment option since October 2026. This guide covers the whole process, from choosing a plan to getting online, along with the few rules that keep a crypto payment from going wrong.
How to buy an eSIM with crypto, step by step
The process has seven steps, and only one of them happens outside HelloSIM: the transfer you send from your own wallet.
- 1Choose a plan. Pick the country you are travelling to, or a regional or global plan if your trip crosses borders. Every plan is priced in euros.
- 2Enter your email at checkout. This is where the eSIM is sent. Guest checkout works, and an account is useful if you want to manage your eSIMs and top up later.
- 3Select "Pay with crypto". You are taken to a secure hosted payment page run by HelloSIM's crypto payment processor.
- 4Pick the coin and the network. The page converts the euro amount into your chosen coin at that moment and shows a payment address, a QR code and the exact amount to send.
- 5Send the payment. Use your own wallet or an exchange withdrawal. Copy the address or scan the QR code, enter the exact amount and confirm that the network matches.
- 6Wait for confirmation. When the payment is confirmed on the blockchain, the eSIM is issued. It appears in your account or the app, and the QR code is emailed to you.
- 7Install the eSIM. You can do this over Wi-Fi any time after purchase. The validity period only begins when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.
From that point on, the eSIM behaves exactly like one bought with a card. The payment method changes nothing about the plan itself.
Which cryptocurrencies you can pay with
The payment page shows the current list, and it can change over time. At the time of writing there are about 100 coin and network combinations, including:
- Bitcoin (BTC), along with Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dash (DASH), Dogecoin (DOGE) and Monero (XMR)
- Ethereum (ETH) on Ethereum, Arbitrum and BNB Smart Chain
- Tether (USDT) on TRON (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), TON, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum and Avalanche
- USD Coin (USDC) on Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum and Avalanche
- Solana (SOL), TRON (TRX), BNB, Avalanche (AVAX), Polygon (POL), Toncoin (TON), DAI and Shiba Inu (SHIB)
- Dozens of other tokens
If you hold several of these, the practical choice is usually the one you can send most easily: a coin already in your wallet, on a network your wallet or exchange supports. For a small purchase, a stablecoin or a coin on a network known for low fees keeps the network fee in proportion.

Three rules for a crypto eSIM payment: amount, network, time
Blockchain transfers cannot be recalled once they are sent, so the details on the payment page deserve a careful read. Three things matter most.
- Send the exact amount shown. Sending less than the amount on the page can leave the payment incomplete. Overpaying still completes the order.
- Use the exact network shown. USDT on TRON and USDT on Ethereum are two different things as far as a payment address is concerned. A transfer sent on a different network can leave the payment incomplete.
- Pay within one hour. A crypto payment request stays open for 1 hour. If it expires, start a new one from checkout. Never send to an expired request.
Two smaller points complete the picture. Network or miner fees are paid by you, the sender, on top of the amount shown, so check what your wallet or exchange will actually deliver to the address. And crypto is available for orders of €1.00 or more, which is the processor's minimum.
How long delivery takes after you pay
The eSIM is issued when the payment is confirmed on the blockchain, and that depends on the coin and network you chose. Some networks confirm within a minute or two. Bitcoin can take longer when the network is busy. HelloSIM does not promise a specific number of minutes, because that part is out of everyone's hands once the transfer has been sent.
The sensible approach is to buy before you travel and not at the departure gate. There is no penalty for buying early: validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not on the day you pay.
Before you pay: what you need, refunds and other options
A crypto purchase needs very little, but it helps to have everything ready before the one-hour window starts.
- An email address to receive the eSIM
- A phone that supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked
- A wallet or exchange account holding a supported coin, plus enough to cover the network fee
- A Wi-Fi connection for installing the eSIM
No bank card is needed when you pay with crypto.
Paying from a HelloSIM wallet balance
You can also add money to your HelloSIM wallet with crypto, from €1.00, and then pay for eSIMs and top-ups from that balance instantly. For frequent travellers this means one blockchain transfer can cover several later purchases, with no confirmation to wait for each time.
Refunds and what you are buying
All sales are final. eSIMs are digital and delivered as soon as the payment is confirmed, so they cannot be refunded once delivered; the only exception is a verified technical fault that HelloSIM cannot resolve. The eSIM itself is data-only and works alongside your main SIM, so you keep your usual number, and more data can be added to the same eSIM later.
If crypto is not convenient on a given day, HelloSIM also accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. The full details of coins, networks and limits are set out on HelloSIM's "Pay with crypto" page.
Stay connected from the moment you land
Paying with crypto comes down to three habits: choose the right network, send the exact amount and finish within the hour. Do that, and the eSIM arrives by email and in your account once the payment confirms, ready to install before you leave home.
