Buy an eSIM with Polygon: Pay with POL, USDT or USDC

HelloSIM accepts Polygon's own coin POL as well as USDT and USDC on Polygon. Here is how to pay, why the network must match and why you need a little POL for fees.

You can buy a HelloSIM travel eSIM on Polygon in three ways: with Polygon's own coin, POL, or with USDT or USDC sent on the Polygon network. Choose "Pay with crypto" at checkout, select the coin with Polygon as the network on the secure payment page, and send the exact amount shown within one hour.

Polygon is a familiar network for anyone who already uses an Ethereum-style wallet, and it gives you one network with three ways to pay. This guide covers what is specific to Polygon: which coin to choose, why the address format makes network mistakes easy, and why a stablecoin payment on Polygon still needs a little POL.

Which Polygon coins can you use to buy an eSIM?

Three options on the payment page run on Polygon:

  • Polygon (POL): the network's own coin. POL replaced MATIC, so some older wallet screens and exchange menus may still show the old name.
  • Tether (USDT) on Polygon: one of eight networks HelloSIM accepts for USDT.
  • USD Coin (USDC) on Polygon: one of five networks HelloSIM accepts for USDC.

The payment page always shows the current list of coins and networks, and it can change. Pick whichever of the three you already hold on Polygon; moving funds from another network first only adds steps.

POL or a stablecoin: which should you send?

Every plan is priced in euros, and the payment page converts the euro price into your chosen coin at the moment of payment. USDT and USDC are designed to track the US dollar, so their figure is easy to anticipate before you start. With POL, the figure depends on POL's rate at that moment. In every case, send the number the page shows, not one you calculated yourself.

The practical difference is the fee. When you send POL from your own wallet, the network fee is paid in POL from the same balance. When you send USDT or USDC on Polygon from your own wallet, the fee is still paid in POL, so the wallet needs a small POL balance as well as the stablecoin. Without it, the transfer usually cannot be sent at all.

How to pay for an eSIM with POL, USDT or USDC on Polygon

  1. 1Check what you hold on Polygon. In your wallet, confirm the balance sits on the Polygon network and not on Ethereum or another chain with the same address format.
  2. 2Choose a plan and start checkout. Pick a country, regional or global plan, enter your email address and select "Pay with crypto". Guest checkout works; an account helps if you want to manage eSIMs and top up later.
  3. 3Select the coin and Polygon as the network. Choose POL, USDT on Polygon or USDC on Polygon. The page shows a payment address, a QR code and the exact amount.
  4. 4Send the exact amount on Polygon. In a wallet, make sure Polygon is the active network. In an exchange withdrawal form, choose Polygon yourself.
  5. 5Wait for confirmation. The eSIM is issued when the payment is confirmed on the blockchain. It then appears in your account or the app, and the QR code is emailed.
  6. 6Install over Wi-Fi before you travel. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, so buying and installing early is fine.

Why Polygon network mistakes happen so easily

Polygon addresses start with 0x, exactly like addresses on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum and Avalanche. A wallet or exchange will accept the payment address on any of those networks without complaint, because it looks valid on all of them. That is why the network has to be checked on purpose: a transfer on a different network from the one shown can leave the payment incomplete, and blockchain transfers cannot be recalled once sent.

Three habits prevent most problems:

  • In a browser or mobile wallet, check that the network selector shows Polygon before you paste the address.
  • On an exchange, select Polygon in the withdrawal network list, even if another network is preselected.
  • If your POL or stablecoin is on Ethereum, do not send it from there to a payment request created for Polygon.

Two kinds of USDC on Polygon

Polygon wallets sometimes show two USDC balances: native USDC and an older bridged version, often labelled USDC.e. They are separate tokens. If you are not sure which one you hold, ask HelloSIM support before you start a payment request, not after you have sent the transfer.

Fees, amounts and the one-hour window

Network fees are paid by the sender, on top of the amount shown. When you pay from an exchange, check whether the withdrawal fee is deducted from the amount you enter. If it is, less arrives than was requested, and sending less than the amount shown can leave the payment incomplete. Overpaying still completes the order.

The minimum for any crypto payment is €1.00. A payment request stays open for 1 hour; if it expires, start a new one from checkout and never send to the expired one.

What you need to pay on Polygon

  • An email address for the eSIM and its QR code
  • A phone that supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked
  • POL, USDT or USDC on the Polygon network
  • A little POL for the network fee if you send from your own wallet
  • Wi-Fi to install the eSIM

Refunds and wallet top-ups

All sales are final: once an order is paid there are no refunds, and a blockchain transfer cannot be recalled. Check the plan, the destination and your phone before paying.

If you buy data regularly, you can also use POL, USDT or USDC on Polygon to add money to your HelloSIM wallet balance, from €1.00, and pay for later eSIMs and top-ups from that balance.

Stay connected on one network

Polygon gives you three ways to pay through a single network. Choose the coin you hold, keep the network set to Polygon in both places, send the exact amount within the hour, and your eSIM will be waiting in your account.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for an eSIM with Polygon (POL)?
Yes. Select "Pay with crypto" at HelloSIM checkout and choose Polygon (POL) on the secure payment page. Send the exact amount shown within one hour, and the eSIM is issued once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain.
Does HelloSIM accept USDT and USDC on Polygon?
Yes. Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) are both accepted on the Polygon network. Choose the stablecoin and Polygon on the payment page, and send the transfer on Polygon only.
Do I need POL to send USDT or USDC on Polygon?
If you send from your own wallet, yes, because the network fee on Polygon is paid in POL. When you withdraw from an exchange, the exchange handles the network fee, so instead check that its withdrawal fee does not reduce the amount that arrives.
Is POL the same as MATIC?
POL replaced MATIC as Polygon's native coin, and some older wallets and exchange screens still show the old name. On the HelloSIM payment page, choose Polygon (POL) and make sure you send on the Polygon network.
What happens if I send on Ethereum instead of Polygon?
A transfer on a different network from the one shown can leave the payment incomplete, and blockchain transfers cannot be recalled once sent. Contact HelloSIM support with the transaction ID if this happens.
