Maurice Bishop International Airport lies at Point Salines on Grenada's south-western tip, only a short drive from Grand Anse Beach, and cruise ships tie up in St George's. Add a HelloSIM eSIM to your phone before the trip and it will pick up Grenada's network after you arrive.
Why use an eSIM in Grenada
- Most hotels sit around Grand Anse and the south coast, but waterfalls, rum distilleries and cocoa estates lie up steep, winding roads where live maps are a real help.
- Getting to Carriacou by ferry or a short flight is easier with tickets, departure times and your guesthouse's contact details on your phone.
- With a few hours ashore in St George's, cruise passengers can book a tour, find their way around the Carenage and keep track of the all-aboard time.
- Roaming with your usual provider can mean a charge for every day of the trip, so it's worth reading your tariff first.
- Your home number keeps working on the physical SIM for calls and texts, and WhatsApp needs no changes.
Grenada is a three-island nation made up of Grenada itself, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The main island earned the nickname Spice Isle from the nutmeg and other spices grown in its hills, and its mix of beaches, rainforest and small towns rewards anyone willing to explore beyond the south coast.

Networks and coverage
In Grenada, the HelloSIM eSIM works on Flow (Cable & Wireless) with its 4G network, so your phone will show 4G/LTE and not 5G.
Signal is normally solid in St George's, around Grand Anse and Morne Rouge, near the airport and along the south coast towards Lance aux Épines, as well as in Grenville on the east coast.
Higher ground is where it gets patchy. The rainforest around Grand Etang, the trails to inland waterfalls and some mountain roads can have weak or no reception. On Carriacou, coverage is usually best around Hillsborough, and it may be thinner on Petite Martinique, on remote beaches and out on the water.
How to get connected
- 1First confirm that your phone has eSIM support and no carrier lock, then purchase the Grenada plan. A QR code is emailed to you straight away and also appears in the HelloSIM app.
- 2Add it on home Wi-Fi before departure. iPhone: Settings → Mobile → Add eSIM. Android: the option sits under Settings → Network & internet or Connections → SIM manager, though each maker labels it slightly differently.
- 3After landing at Point Salines or stepping off your ship, activate the HelloSIM line, set it as the default for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for it. Without this the eSIM can't connect, and because the data is prepaid there is no extra cost.
- 4On your home line, keep data roaming disabled so you don't pick up charges from your own provider.
How much data do you need
- Light — directions, WhatsApp chats and checking the Carriacou ferry: about 1 GB a week.
- Medium — uploading beach and dive photos, social apps and regular browsing: 3–5 GB a week.
- Heavy — streaming, long video calls or a working holiday: 10 GB or more a week.
Hotels around Grand Anse usually provide Wi-Fi, but smaller guesthouses, especially on Carriacou, may have a more limited connection.

Travel tips for staying connected in Grenada
- Heading to Carriacou? Save your ferry or flight booking offline and download a map of the island, and remember that signal can be unreliable on the boat ride out to Sandy Island.
- Before hiking to waterfalls such as the Seven Sisters in the Grand Etang area, download offline maps and let someone know your route.
- If you arrive by cruise ship, out at sea phones sometimes register on the ship's maritime network and your home carrier bills for that, so keep home data roaming off until you dock in St George's.
- Diving or snorkelling at the sculpture park? Leave your phone in a dry bag on the boat and back up your photos once you're on land again.
- Used more than planned? Add data to the same eSIM through the Check / Top up page or your HelloSIM account, without scanning a new code.
Sailing up through the Grenadines or flying on to another island? A Caribbean regional plan carries several destinations on one eSIM; double-check that every country on your route is listed.
