Flights to Guam land at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, a short drive from the hotels of Tumon Bay. Install a HelloSIM eSIM before you travel and your phone connects to the local network once you arrive on the island.
Why use an eSIM in Guam
- Guam is a US territory, but not every US cell phone plan treats it as domestic, and roaming fees can apply, so check with your carrier before you go.
- Many visitors rent a car, and live navigation between Tumon, Hagåtña and the villages of the south makes the driving much easier.
- Snorkel trips, boat tours and island drives are simpler to book and find when you have data on hand.
- Your home SIM stays active for calls and texts, and WhatsApp remains linked to your number.
- The plan's days start counting only when the eSIM first connects on Guam.
Guam is only about 30 miles long, so even a short trip can take in Tumon's beaches, the Spanish-era Plaza de España in Hagåtña and the quiet villages of the south. With your own data line, it's easy to look up opening hours, share photos and find your way back to the hotel after a day on the road.

Networks and coverage
HelloSIM's Guam eSIM connects to Docomo Pacific, using 5G where the network offers it and your phone supports it, and 4G/LTE everywhere else.
Coverage is usually strong in Tumon, Tamuning, Hagåtña and Dededo, along Marine Corps Drive and around the airport, and most of the island's villages and main roads have signal too.
Signal can weaken on jungle hiking trails, around Ritidian Point in the far north, in some valleys in the south, and out on the water during snorkeling or fishing trips.
How to get connected
- 1Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, then buy the Guam plan. The QR code is emailed to you straight away, and you can also find it in your HelloSIM account and the app.
- 2Install the eSIM over Wi-Fi before your flight: on iPhone, Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM; on Android phones, look in Settings → Network & internet or Connections → SIMs / SIM manager → Add eSIM.
- 3When you land, turn on the HelloSIM line, choose it for cellular data and switch on Data Roaming for that line. The eSIM needs it to connect, and since the data is prepaid there's no extra charge.
- 4Switch data roaming off on your home line so your carrier can't bill you for roaming.
How much data do you need
- Light — maps, messaging and checking tour pickup times: around 1 GB a week.
- Medium — social media, beach photos and browsing: 3–5 GB a week.
- Heavy — streaming, long video chats or remote work: 10 GB or more a week.
Hotels in Tumon generally offer Wi-Fi, though the connection in your room can vary.

Travel tips for staying connected in Guam
- Planning a drive around the south through Umatac and Merizo? Download offline maps first so a weak signal doesn't leave you guessing at junctions.
- Snorkeling and diving trips can take you out of signal range, so keep your phone in a dry bag and save your pickup point offline.
- Jungle hikes to waterfalls in the south often mean muddy trails and little signal; share your route with someone before you set off.
- Tropical storms can bring power outages, so keep your phone charged and a power bank ready.
- Use FaceTime or WhatsApp for calls home over data, and keep your home line for texts such as bank verification codes.
Going through your data faster than planned? You can top up the same eSIM in the HelloSIM app, and the Guam plan keeps you online for the rest of your stay.
