Buy an eSIM with Avalanche: Pay with AVAX, USDT or USDC

HelloSIM accepts AVAX plus USDT and USDC on Avalanche. Learn how to pick the right asset and network on the payment page and why a token payment needs a little AVAX.

You can buy a HelloSIM travel eSIM on Avalanche with three assets: the network's own coin, AVAX, or the stablecoins USDT and USDC sent on Avalanche. On the secure payment page you choose the asset and Avalanche as the network, then send the exact amount shown within one hour, keeping a little AVAX in your wallet for the network fee if you pay with a stablecoin.

This guide covers what is specific to Avalanche: picking the right combination on the payment page, which part of Avalanche to send on, and how to avoid a stablecoin transfer that cannot leave your wallet.

Which Avalanche coins can you use to buy an eSIM?

Three options on the HelloSIM payment page run on Avalanche:

  • Avalanche (AVAX): the network's own coin, listed as a coin in its own right.
  • Tether (USDT) on Avalanche: one of eight networks HelloSIM accepts for USDT.
  • USD Coin (USDC) on Avalanche: one of five networks HelloSIM accepts for USDC.

The page always shows the current list of coins and networks, and it can change. The simplest choice is the asset you already hold on Avalanche.

How to pick the right asset and network on the payment page

The payment page asks for two things: the coin and the network. With AVAX the choice is direct, because you are paying with the network's own coin. With USDT and USDC the coin alone is not enough: after choosing the stablecoin, select Avalanche from its list of networks. USDT on Avalanche and USDT on Ethereum, for example, are separate tokens on separate ledgers, and a payment request created for one does not expect the other.

One rule covers every case: the asset and the network on the payment page must describe exactly what sits in your wallet. If your wallet shows USDC on Avalanche, choose USDC and Avalanche. If it shows AVAX, choose AVAX.

Every plan is priced in euros. The page converts the euro amount into your chosen asset at the moment of payment and shows a payment address, a QR code and the exact amount to send. Send that figure, not one you calculated yourself.

Why you need a little AVAX to send USDT or USDC

On Avalanche, the network fee is paid in AVAX. When you send AVAX from your own wallet, the fee comes out of the same balance, so that balance must cover the amount shown plus the fee. When you send USDT or USDC from your own wallet, the fee is still paid in AVAX, so the wallet needs a small AVAX balance next to the stablecoin. Without it, the transfer usually cannot be sent at all.

If you pay from an exchange, the exchange handles the network fee itself. The thing to check there is whether its withdrawal fee is taken out of the amount you type: sending less than the amount shown can leave the payment incomplete, while overpaying still completes the order. Either way, network fees are paid by the sender, on top of the amount shown.

How to pay for an eSIM on Avalanche, step by step

  1. 1Check your balance and network. In your wallet, confirm that the AVAX, USDT or USDC sits on Avalanche and not on Ethereum or another chain with the same address format.
  2. 2Choose a plan and start checkout. Pick a country, regional or Global plan, enter your email address and select "Pay with crypto". Guest checkout works; an account helps you manage eSIMs and top up later.
  3. 3Select the asset and Avalanche. Choose AVAX, or choose USDT or USDC with Avalanche as the network. The page shows the address, a QR code and the exact amount.
  4. 4Send on Avalanche. In a wallet, make sure Avalanche is the active network. In an exchange withdrawal form, select Avalanche yourself.
  5. 5Wait for confirmation. The eSIM is issued once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain. It then appears in your account or the app, and the QR code is emailed.
  6. 6Install over Wi-Fi. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, so buying and installing before the trip is fine.

C-Chain, X-Chain and other Avalanche mix-ups

Avalanche has more than one chain. The one wallets use for AVAX transfers, USDT and USDC is the C-Chain, which uses 0x addresses exactly like Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum. Exchanges often label it Avalanche C-Chain or AVAXC, and some also offer AVAX withdrawals on the X-Chain, whose addresses look different and begin with X-avax.

That leads to three checks:

  • Look-alike addresses. A 0x address is valid on several networks, so a wallet will not warn you if the wrong one is active. Check the network selector before you paste.
  • The exchange network list. Choose the Avalanche option that matches the payment page. If the form rejects the address, change the network, never the address.
  • Bridged tokens. Some Avalanche wallets show an older bridged stablecoin with a .e suffix, such as USDC.e or USDT.e. These are separate tokens from native USDC and USDT. If you are not sure which one you hold, ask HelloSIM support before you start a payment request.

A transfer on a different network from the one shown can leave the payment incomplete, and blockchain transfers cannot be recalled once sent.

Timing, minimum and the one-hour window

How long confirmation takes depends on the coin and the network at the time, so HelloSIM does not promise a number of minutes. The minimum for a crypto payment is €1.00. A payment request stays open for 1 hour; if it expires, start a new one from checkout and never send to the expired one.

What you need to pay on Avalanche

  • An email address for the eSIM and its QR code
  • A phone that supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked
  • AVAX, USDT or USDC on the Avalanche network
  • A little AVAX for the network fee if you send a stablecoin from your own wallet
  • Wi-Fi to install the eSIM

Refunds and wallet top-ups

All sales are final, so there are no refunds once an order is paid. Check the plan, the destination and your phone before you send. The eSIM is data-only and has no phone number, so it adds mobile data without replacing your usual number.

You can also use AVAX, USDT or USDC on Avalanche to top up your HelloSIM wallet balance, from €1.00, through the same "Pay with crypto" option.

Stay connected on one network

Choose the asset you hold, keep the network set to Avalanche in both places, leave some AVAX for the fee and send the exact amount within the hour. Your eSIM will then be waiting in your account.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for an eSIM with AVAX?
Yes. Select "Pay with crypto" at HelloSIM checkout and choose Avalanche (AVAX) on the secure payment page. Send the exact amount shown within one hour, and the eSIM is issued once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain.
Does HelloSIM accept USDT and USDC on Avalanche?
Yes. Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) are both accepted on the Avalanche network. Choose the stablecoin, then Avalanche as the network on the payment page, and send the transfer on Avalanche only.
Do I need AVAX to send USDT or USDC on Avalanche?
If you send from your own wallet, yes, because the network fee on Avalanche is paid in AVAX. When you withdraw from an exchange, the exchange handles the network fee, so check instead that its withdrawal fee does not reduce the amount that arrives.
Should I send on the Avalanche C-Chain or the X-Chain?
Send on the network shown on the payment page and check that your wallet or exchange accepts the payment address there. USDT and USDC on Avalanche live on the C-Chain, which uses 0x addresses, while X-Chain addresses look different, so if a form rejects the address, change the network rather than the address.
What happens if I send USDT on Ethereum instead of Avalanche?
A transfer on a different network from the one shown can leave the payment incomplete, and blockchain transfers cannot be recalled once sent. Contact HelloSIM support with the transaction ID if this happens.
