Flights into the Republic of the Congo land at Maya-Maya Airport in Brazzaville or at Agostinho-Neto International Airport in Pointe-Noire, the country's Atlantic port. Install a HelloSIM eSIM before the trip and your phone connects to the local network as soon as you arrive.
Why use an eSIM in the Republic of the Congo
- Reach your contact, driver or hotel the moment you land, without hunting for a SIM vendor before your first meeting.
- Keep email, video calls and shared documents running between meetings in Brazzaville or on site visits around Pointe-Noire.
- Keep work data off your home plan, whose roaming in Central Africa often carries a hefty daily charge — check your tariff first.
- Your own SIM still receives calls and texts, WhatsApp keeps your usual number, and the plan's validity starts only on its first connection in the country.
- If a work trip runs longer than planned, top up the same eSIM from the HelloSIM app instead of reinstalling anything.
Many visitors to Congo-Brazzaville come for work in oil, logistics, government or development projects, dividing their time between the capital on the Congo River and Pointe-Noire, the oil-industry hub on the coast. A data line that works from arrival keeps your schedule, your contacts and your inbox within reach.

Networks and coverage
Your eSIM runs on Airtel, on its 4G network, so you will be on 4G/LTE rather than 5G.
Coverage is usually best in central Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire and in larger towns such as Dolisie.
Away from the cities it becomes much less predictable. Rural stretches of road between towns, the forests of the north, river journeys and national parks such as Odzala-Kokoua and Nouabalé-Ndoki can mean little or no signal.
How to get connected
- 1Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, then buy the Republic of the Congo plan; the QR code is sent to your email straight away and stays available in your HelloSIM account.
- 2Install it at home or in the office over Wi-Fi before you travel — on iPhone via Settings → Mobile → Add eSIM, on Android via Settings → Network & internet or Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
- 3After landing in Brazzaville or Pointe-Noire, switch on the HelloSIM line, select it for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for that line; this is needed for it to connect and costs nothing more, as the data is prepaid.
- 4Turn data roaming off for your home SIM so your usual provider cannot add roaming fees to your bill.
How much data do you need
- Light — messages, maps and email without attachments: about 1 GB a week.
- Medium — regular email, browsing and social media: 3–5 GB a week.
- Heavy — daily video meetings, large files or working from a laptop: 10 GB or more a week.
Business hotels in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire generally have Wi-Fi, but it can be inconsistent, so it pays to keep mobile data ready as a backup for important calls.

Travel tips for staying connected in the Republic of the Congo
- Check that you are buying for the Republic of the Congo, whose capital is Brazzaville, and not for the Democratic Republic of the Congo across the river.
- Download presentations, contracts and offline maps before trips out of the cities, as signal can disappear on the road.
- Power cuts can happen, so carry a power bank and keep your laptop charged ahead of key video calls.
- Leave your home SIM switched on for texts such as bank or company security codes, and make calls over the eSIM with WhatsApp or your usual video-call app.
- Flying between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire? Save boarding passes and hotel confirmations offline in case data is slow at the airport.
